Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking official said the incident left him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
